Operation that was prepared for a long time has launched on Mosul which is controlling by ISIL since 2014. Dicle University, Director of Political Research Center Asst. Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Şeyhanlıoğlu had a talk to ILKHA about operation and uttered that it is Islamic world targeted with the operation.

Assistant Professor Hüseyin Şeyhanlıoğlu has touched to the historic link of Turkiye with Mosul and emphasized that Muslims need to be unite against playing game.

Operation on Mosul targeting Islamic world in reality said Şeyhanlıoğlu and added, “Operation on Mosul carrying out for: events in Syria to be forget, increase conflict between sunni and shia, move Turkiye away from Middle east. Look, Mosul is controlling by ISIS for 2 years and nothing have done so far. It is thoughtful the operation has launched now when Aleppo is under siege, when that much disaster are experiencing. Any kind of terror organization attack on Turkiye. It is very thoughtful that the operation has launched now when from YPG to PKK and ISIS are all attacking on Turkiye.”

Şeyhanlıoğlu said that Mosul is the intersection point of 3 mass nations in Middle East, stated that the population of Mosul decreased in half when it was 1 million 700.

British has had that time, but now the U.S.

Şeyhanlıoğlu continued as, “In parallel with the time of Saddam’s Arabization policy of Mosul, it was consciously continued in the same strategy way with ISIS. Look, we must pay attention to this; Mosul is the first place of Middle East for oil. During the Ottoman, Sultan Abdulhamit took Mosul upon himself in order to prevent British occupy there. We are in the same situation now. Mosul again strategically in terms of oil, or for Kurt, Turk and Arab, located in the same geography and the history repeats again. British has had that time, now it is the U.S. and strategy continues.”

The water will be in Mosul within 4 hours and will be in Baghdad within 42 hours if ISIS explodes Mosul’s dam

Şeyhanlıoğlu remarked that there are three fear with the operation, noting very serious immigration could happen from Mosul to Turkiye, those expressions he used:

“ISIS could use chemical weapon for both Erbil and Ankara. Second, Barzani could face a miserable defeat on YNK and Goran. Third, immigration from Mosul to Turkiye is a strong possibility. 100 thousand people could come to Turkiye. I am talking according to the UN. They could raise the conflicts between Sunni and Shia by setting Hashdi-Shabi organization against Kurds. Suicide attacks, attack on pipe can happen. Attacks of PKK can increase. Thereby we are in a critical level and I will tell you most critical one; if ISIS explodes the dam of Mosul, then the water will reach Mosul within 4 hours and reach Baghdad within 42 hours. At least 3 million people be exhausted. This is nothing but apocalypse.”

Strategic target of Western world is to control Islamic world

“Nor misak-ı milli [national pact], nor Lausanne or Sevres are not suitable for the nature of this geography. After Ottoman Empire falls, Arabs divided into 38 and Kurds divided into 4 parts which are made accordance to the beneficial of Western countries. The main purpose of Western countries in this strategic target is to control Islamic world within this. Mosul is a key point in here like Aleppo, Baghdad and Damascus. In recent years of Turkiye during AK Party is on power, during Anavatan [motherland] Party, during Demokrat [democratic] Party, ‘we are exist in Middle East, and we are going back to Middle East’ discourses means alarm bells start to ring for Western.”

Returning to Mosul is not an oil issue

Şeyhanlıoğlu emphasized that if Turkiye gives up on Middle East and turn to be a part of EU, Western world will not accept even this and continued:

“Thereby, you are obliged as Turkey. Mosul; is in an intersection point that Turkiye has to merged on Sunni world or on Kurdistan in Iraq. There are Turkmen, Kurds, Sunni Arabs are in Mosul. In a sense, returning to Mosul is not an oil issue. The issue is, there is catchment area and Turkiye is a part of this area. You can’t remain quiet when Mosul and Aleppo agonizes.” (ILKHA)
