Turkiye, Iran and Russia ‘Joint Expert Group Meeting’ on technical issues in Syria negotiations were discussed in Tehran. At the end of the two-day expert meeting, the parties issued a joint statement.

In the declaration, the following statements were made: “During the two-day specialists meeting in Tehran, the delegations of Iran, Russia and Turkiye exchanged views on the abduction and exchange of prisoners mainly on the application of ceasefire process to be applied with documents. A delegation of UN specialists participated in the meeting in the position of observer and contributed a significant amount in technical terms. The Tehran meeting is a preliminary preparation for negotiations on Syria to be held in Astana on 3-4 May 2017. All the delegations reported that they will meet again on May 2nd, before the meeting of senior officials.”
