Extreme heat kills 45 people in India

In some parts of India, at least 45 people died due to the severe heat wave.

In India, the severe heat wave has killed at least 45 people in the last 24 hours and has caused more than 100 people to be hospitalized.

Deaths were reported largely from Aurangabad, Gaya and Nawada regions.

The thermometers hit 45 degrees at Gaya and Patna on Saturday. 

Authorities in Aurangabad confirmed 27 people were killed by the heat wave on Saturday. Officials in Gaya reported that 14 people were killed in their districts while Indian authorities announced that dozens of people are under treatment.

The Prime Minister of Bihar expressed concern about the deaths and announced that compensation for the relatives of the victims would be paid.

Government officials described the incident as unfortunate and advised people not to leave the house until the temperature dropped.

Many other regions in northern India have been battling a severe heat wave this past month. Regions like Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh regularly witnessed temperatures above 46 degrees.

Over the last 30 days, more than 10 places in India have witnessed the highest temperatures on earth.
