Canada acknowledged that "genocide" has been committed against Arakanese Muslims, while five generals, including Myanmar's Chief of Staff, should be tried under international law.

Canadian Parliament votes by a joint decision of all parties followed by the UN report published earlier this month said military generals, including Chief of Staff Min Aung Hlaing must face investigation and prosecution for mass killing as well as crimes against humanity and other war crimes committed against Arakanese Muslims.

In the UN report, according to witness observations, satellite photographs and information from other sources, crimes committed against Rohingya in Kachin, Shan, and Rakhine states that soldiers and other security forces committed crimes such as murder, torture, plunder, extrajudicial execution, rape, and hostage-taking.

The number of Rohingian Muslims who flee from persecution and seek refuge in Bangladesh is now at least 700 thousand. Myanmar, who denied the accusations, argues that the military has made "justified" intervention.
