On the occasion of May 18-24 Tourism Week, ancient cemetery, water cistern and dungeon which located in the military garrison town of the Romans in the city of Dara and used in the 6th and 7th century, was opened for tourists in Mardin.

Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Deputy President Governor Mustafa Yaman, Kocaeli Metropolitan Mayor Ibrahim Karaosmanoğlu attended the opening ceremony.

“We want all guests to see this place”

Governor Yaman made explanations to journalists and said, “Our Ministry of Culture, Mardin Governor, Provincial Cultural Directorate and Directorate of Museums and Dara Antique City have opened our service to our citizens today. Dara has hosted many local and foreign tourists for years.”

Recalling that Dara is one of the most important venues of the country, Yaman said, “We have implemented the program of presenting the activities of the ancient tombs, cisterns and dungeons to the succession of our people as of today. Dara Neighborhood and our cultural assets registered here are indeed treasures for our country. We want all the guests who come to Mardin to see this place. Our work here will continue.”
