Iran must change its Syria’s policy says Ahmedinejad

Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that Iran, Turkiye and Saudi Arabia and other Islamic countries should change their policy in Syria.

Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in an interview with Al Jazeera, said that Iran, Turkiye and Saudi Arabia and other Islamic countries should change their policy in Syria.

According to an interview with Al-Jazeera, Ahmadinejad said that the solution in Syria could only be realized with a serious dialogue that Iran and the Gulf states are also parties.

“Everybody must change its policy. Saudi Arabia, Turkiye, Qatar, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and even Iran, Oman and Syria need to change their current foreign policy. We need to sit together and talk about why we fight each other. Why? This war is a war imposed on us from the outside. It has weakened all of us and consumed our own resources. It is very bad. It must be a call for a serious dialogue. We need to make a path from our common points to ensure peace and harmony,” said Ahmadinejad.

Ahmadinejad, announced his candidacy for a presidential election to be held in Iran in May despite Iran's religious leader Ali Khamenei's recommendation, stated that Khamenei did not ask him to not be a candidate, but that he only had a recommendation in that direction.

Ahmadinejad said, “I believe that there is a better way to manage the country than now. I declare my candidacy for it. The final word is the nation.”

It was reported that the entire interview will be given on April 20th.
