More than one million Uyghur are in concentration camps

Turkish AK Party spokesman Omer Celik stated that keeping more than one million Uighur Muslims in detention camps and prisons are not legitimate.

Referring to China's "East Turkestan" policies, Turkish AK Party spokesman Omer Celik noted that "Sinification of all religions and beliefs" policy was put into effect by China in October 2017.

Expressing that there are many aspects of this policy open to assimilation, Celik noted that important opinion leaders, artists and many intellectuals of Eastern Turkistan are missing.

Noting that the families of missing persons were not reported, Çelik underlined that all these issues must be brought to light. "If a transparent approach is shown on this issue, it will create an opportunity for everyone to decrease the tension and to make clear what the case is."

"We are a country that respects China's territorial integrity and security. We care about the territorial integrity and security of China. As we approach this issue in this way, of course, we say that arbitrary arrests against Uighur Turks, the detention of more than one million Uighur Turks in concentration camps and prisons will not be justified in any way," he underlined.
