After graduating from high school in Nigeria, Hafiz Samir Abdou, 22, who came to Gaziantep to complete his university education, volunteered to teach Qur'an to children who attend summer Qur'an Course.

Hafiz Samir Abdou, who applied to the Gaziantep Provincial Mufti for volunteer work in the Summer Qur'an course, said that he came to the summer course with great joy and teaches Qur'an voluntarily to children after he was told by the mufti that he could work at Ali Erçelebi Mosque in Şahinbey district.

Abdou, who helped with the mosque imam in the summer Qur'an course, noted that he enjoys reading and teaching the Qur'an in the description he made to ILKHA correspondent.

At the age of 10, Abdou expressed he has memorized the Qur'an and became a Hafiz, said, "I am studying at the Faculty of Theology of Gaziantep University. I have been in Gaziantep for two years. I passed the second class this year. I have a friend who teaches Qur'an to children during the summer Qur'an course, also asked me if I can join to teach Qur'an. I accepted it and joined this summer Qur'an course. I teach Qur'an to children and help the teacher. We have a good time here with the kids. Children also are learning the Qur'an in a beautiful way."

"I am happy to teach the Qur'an lesson to children"

In Nigeria, Abdou said that he taught the children the Qur'an lessons in the mosques. "In Nigeria, we were teaching Qur'an to children same in this way. I also gave the Holy Qu'ran courses in the same way here in Turkiye. All praise to Allah, I am happy to teach Qur'an to children. There is a Hadith sheriff in the form of 'Your best is the one who learns and teaches the Qur'an'."

"This brother teaches the Qur'an without observing a benefit"

Ali Erçelebi Mosque Muezzin Yakup Bilmez also said, "I really appreciate brother Samir in the heart. He is from Nigeria and is a student at the faculty of theology at the University of Gaziantep. Although our mosque in the town center, far from where he resides, he does not have any interest every day and he just comes to our mosque for Allah's sake and teaches Qur'an to children voluntary and is trying to help us."
