No one has been in prison for as long as Yusufis

Holding a press conference, Families' Initiative of People Victimized by Feb. 28 and FETO Judiciary, made a call for justice while emphasized that no one has been in prison for as long as Yusufis [Islamic prisoners].

In the press conference held in Istanbul, in Küçükçekmece Sefaköy Park, the "initiative" members drew attention to the fact that no one was jailed for as long as Yusufis. The initiative made a call for justice.

In a mass press statement emphasizing that it is big contradiction that the putschist were convicted but the situation of people who were sentenced by those coup attempters were not seen.

It is underlined that those who consent to the continuation of the injustice and lawlessness in question should fear their fate.

Speaking before the press statement, Mustazafs Association Istanbul Branch Vice President Cemal Çınar said: "Decisions made by Feb. 28 process are where the words end."

Stating that it has been revealed that the victims were right together with the evidence, Çınar underlined that the cases of Feb. 28 victims have taken a moral dimension, not legal.

"We hereby call upon the president, the assembly and all those who advocate human rights! Let us feel the people who have been in prison for 20 years. When a person puts himself in the position of the victim, he can only judge with Justice," he said.

Adding that not only the victims but also their families have been suffering, Çınar drew attention that most of the judges, who sentenced those Feb. 28 victims, are not in prisons due to involving in the coup attempt.

"Neither did those throw Yusuf in the well nor did those put him in jail found peace"

Reading the press release on behalf of the initiative, Ali Bozkurt, a member of Ashap Der, noted that they are victims for a quarter of a century, whose husband, father, brothers, and sons are locked behind bars.

Bozkurt, who drew attention that their loved ones were convicted and imprisoned of an unfair trial, said: "Some of them were taken into custody during the February 28 coup process, tortured for weeks, posters in the press and media, were forced to sign statements and sentenced to trial seen in the State Security Court [DGM] of the period."

"There have been many atrocities throughout history. The price of these atrocities was severe because no lesson was taken," said Bozkurt and added that neither did those throw Yusuf [Prophet] in the well, not did those put him in jail found peace.

"You will convicts the putschist, but you will not see people convicted by putschist"

"They are the Yusufies who are in the dungeons for 20 to 25 years with the briefing of Feb. 28 and the elements of the security and judiciary of the FETO organization," Bozkurt said.

Drawing attention to the contradiction, Bozkurt said: "You will convict those Feb. 28 putschist, but you won't see those victims imprisoned by the Feb. 28 briefings. You will intern FETO members police, officers, prosecutors, and judges and say they are terrorists, but you won't see those people imprisoned by FETO members and continue to keep them in dungeons."

"Because they do not make a fair and impartial decision, you will close the DGM and special courts, but you will not cancel the decisions taken by those courts," said Bozkurt. "This cannot be explained by sense," he added.

"No one has been in prison for so long"

Bozkurt pointed out that people who were fathers became grandfather during their period in jails. "The rugged and vigorous ones were caught in cancer, hepatitis B and different diseases. Some of them passed away after released due to bad conditions in prison."

He also noted that parents longing for their -children in prisons- have passed away without meeting them. "In this not enough? Who has remained in these prisons for so long and so many years? The coup d'état attempters? The killers? Rapists? February 28 putschist? Agents? Pastor Brunson? None…" he said.

Bozkurt asked what was the crime of those husbands, fathers, and sons, so they locked behind barred doors for that long time. "Those who do nothing for the release of our relatives out will carry the same plague as those who sentenced them."

Bozkurt lastly added that they do not want amnesty, but fair trial, and seek for justice.
