Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım made a statement about the 'Olive Branch Operation' which started in Afrin at a meeting with media representatives in Istanbul.

Yıldırım said that the operation of the Olive Tree Operation will be carried out in 4 phases and a safe area will be established at a depth of 30 kilometers.

Describing the existence of an 8-10 thousand "terrorist" entity in Afrin, the prime minister explained that the region will be cleaned of all established "terrorist organizations" and that the determination is complete in this regard.

He said that all the diplomatic talks had been done before the operation launched. He said that there was no opposition from the US at the moment, he said that Iran did not oppose the operation but expressed some worries.

Yıldırım added that information was given to the Syrian regime via Russia and Iran.

"There is a promise of the US, we expect it to be fulfilled," the Prime Minister said, not commenting on whether the operation would continue with Munbij.

Yıldırım also reported that all diplomatic negotiations had been done before the operation started.

Prime Minister Yıldırım, who explained that the land operation launched from Gülbaba at 11.05, said that there were no wounded soldiers so far.
