Pray could not be performed in Kaaba due to insect infestation

Thousands of cockroaches and grasshoppers invaded the Kaaba and around while Muslims could not perform prayer.

While Muslims could not perform prayer in Masjid Al-Haram and around due to the infestation of thousands of cockroaches and grasshoppers, the reproductive areas of the insects were identified and cleaning work was initiated.

Muslims reportedly were unable to perform prayers because of the infestation of thousands of cockroaches and grasshoppers that appeared on Monday in some of Mecca's streets, in the Kaaba Masjid and its environs.

Citizens living around the Kaaba have expressed that they have never seen such a thing in their lives.

Experts in the region have also stated that they have never seen such insects that surround the Kaaba.

Experts reminded that some people in the Arabian Peninsula have raised bugs for the bird's nest and that these insects may have come from the Arabian Peninsula.

In a statement made by the municipality, "we focus on the breeding areas of insects at around the Kaaba, in all the toilets in the courtyard of the mosque, open water resources, and sewage."

The cause of insect infestation, which was seen for the first time, has not been determined yet.
