President Erdoğan speaks about military coup in Sudan

Turkiye's President Erdoğan stated that every coup is a blood loss, and he hoped that Sudan would overcome this process in peace.

Speaking at a joint press conference with President Roch Marc Cristian Kabore of Burkina Faso, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan spoke about the developments in Sudan.

"I believe at this point that Sudan should resolve this issue in a peaceful and brotherly manner and allow the normal democratic process to work," Turkiye's President Erdoğan.

"We reaffirmed our determination to increase our bilateral trade volume"

Pointing out that his tête-à-tête with President Kaboré and the meeting between the delegations were very comprehensive and productive, President Erdoğan said the nearly 62-million-dollar trade volume between Turkiye and Burkina Faso is too low given the two countries" populations, and that they reaffirmed their determination to increase the bilateral trade volume by working together.

Stating that they continue to urge Turkish private sector to do business and make investments in Burkina Faso, President Erdoğan expressed his thanks to President Kaboré for the support he gives to Turkish entrepreneurs.

The President also voiced his pleasure over some 200 Burkinabe students studying in Turkiye, adding that education is one of the most important areas that will bring the two countries’ peoples closer to each other.

Recalling that Burkina Faso is the term president of the G5 Sahel, President Erdoğan underlined that the Sahel countries, including Burkina Faso, have increasingly been the target of terror groups in the recent period, adding that Turkiye will transfer the 5-million-dollar military aid, which it has promised to the G5 Sahel Joint Force, as it has been planned.

"We reiterated during our meetings with my friend Kaboré our mutual will to maintain our bilateral cooperation and support in anti-terror fight," he noted.

"The Burkinabe people, who repelled the coup attempt in 2015, displayed solidarity with the Turkish people in the aftermath of the July 15 coup attempt. I especially trust in my treasured friend President Kaboré's support in our fight against the FETO across the continent."

"The ostracizing behaviors towards African countries have no value to us"

Highlighting that Turkiye attaches importance to relations with Africa, President Erdoğan went on to say: "The ostracizing, conceited and intervening behaviors towards African countries have no value to us."

"Our African friends have more than enough experience to produce solutions for their own problems within the framework of their own values, sensitivities, and dynamics. We are determined to further our cooperation with Burkina Faso and other African countries on the basis of mutual respect and equal partnership."

Burkinabe president Kaboré: "We want to further our relations with Turkiye in all areas"

President Kaboré of Burkina Faso, for his part, stated that the meetings held were constructive and productive, adding that they want to further their relations with Turkiye in all areas.

Also touching upon the anti-terror fight, President Kaboré said: "We agreed to not allow any terror groups to have a presence in our countries."

Military coup in Sudan

Answering reporters’ questions following the press conference, President Erdoğan, in response to a question regarding the military coup in Sudan, said: "Sudan is a country that we have deep-rooted historical relations with, and we are certainly in favor of the continuation of these deep-rooted relations. I believe at this point that Sudan should resolve this issue in a peaceful and brotherly manner and allow the normal democratic process to work."
