President Erdoğan's comment on election results

President Erdoğan said: "According to the unofficial election results, our people have given me the duty of presidency and the head of the executive branch."

President and AK Party Chairman Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made remarks on the election results in a press conference he held at Huber Villa in Istanbul.

"According to the unofficial results, our people have given me the duty of presidency and the head of the executive branch," President Erdoğan stated.

He noted that people have also assigned a huge responsibility to the People’s Alliance and AK Party regarding the legislative branch by granting them the parliamentary majority.

Thanking all who cast their votes and fulfilled their citizenship responsibility, President Erdoğan said: "Poll security and the freedom to vote are the manifestations of the strength of Turkish democracy. All across Turkiye today, our people went to the polls, cast their votes and made their choice for themselves and for the country with their free will. We are also glad since the elections have been completed all across the country with great maturity."

Describing the record turnout in the elections as a critical message of the people to themselves and to the entire world, President Erdoğan said: "The message is quite evident. Turkiye has given a lesson to the entire world on democracy with a turnout that is close to 90 percent."
