Search continues for 7 missing in Düzce

Teams continue searching for 7 missing Turkish citizens caused by flood in Esmahanim village near Akçakoca, district of Düzce, a northwestern province of Turkey.

Creeks overflowed due to the extreme rain, some village roads were blocked due to landslides, while the stranded people were rescued by helicopter in Düzce.

Over 200 kilograms per square meter rained in 24 hours in Cumayeri, Gölyaka and Akçakoca districts of Düzce.

At least 7 people reported as missing from Esmahanim village in Akçakoca district due to floods and landslides while four of those missing are children.

"Within the framework of the studies carried out, it is understood that seven people were missing from Esmahanim village of Akçakoca district during the evening hours (Thursday) and the search is continuing," governor office said in a statement.

The governor's office said 219 people had been rescued. 25 personnel, 6 Dogs, 3 helicopters and 1 aircraft, supported search and rescue efforts.
