Shaheed Muhammad Morsi buried in Cairo

The funeral of Egypt's first and only freely elected President Mohammed Morsi was buried in Cairo at 5:00 am local time.

The funeral of Shaheed Muhammad Morsi, the first and only freely elected President of Egypt was buried at 5:00 am local time under intense security measures.

Morsi's funeral was buried in a cemetery, where demised leaders of Muslim Brotherhood were buried in the District of Medina Nasr, east of Cairo.

His funeral was buried early in the morning alongside other senior figures of the Muslim Brotherhood, his son, Ahmed Morsi, said on his Facebook page.

No one was allowed to participate in the burial process except the family and lawyers of martyr Morsi, the report said.

Authorities refused to grant permission for burial in Morsi's home province of Sharqiya in the Nile Delta, Ahmed Morsi said.

"We washed his noble body at Tora prison hospital, read prayers for him at the prison hospital ... and the burial was at the Muslim Brotherhood spiritual guides," Ahmed wrote.

Shackled before the court, Shaheed Morsi said he would keep the secrets to himself until he died or met Allah. He collapsed soon after.
