The works of Fuat Sezgin are quite inspiring

In the International Symposium on the history of Islamic Science held Friday in Diyarbakır, the works of Prof. Fuat Sezgin, a researcher of Islamic Science History, was emphasized to be inspiring.

The "International Islamic Science History and Fuat Sezgin Symposium" started Friday, which was organized under the coordination of the Society of İlim Yayma Diyarbakır Branch and the Kadim Academy.

The symposium, hosted by Kayapınar Municipality, is held at Cegerxwin Cultural Center.

Minister of Industry and Technology Mustafa Varank, who participated in the opening of the symposium, addressed the participants.

Varank expressed his pleasure to be in Diyarbakır, the cradle of civilizations. He stated that Prof. Fuat Sezgin, an Islamic Science researcher, died on June 30, 2018, was one of the most successful and diligent scientists of Turkiye.

"Our respected teacher, who struck his heart with his country's love, dedicated himself to revealing the scientific knowledge of our civilization," Varank said.

"As a matter of fact, our teacher sums up the purpose of all his works as follows: Part of the effort is to serve the world of science, but another very important thing is to remind of the loss of self-esteem, trust of the Islamic world, and its place in the history of mankind, in which an entire Islamic world has lost."

"Germany has not allowed a part of the works to be brought to our country"

Describing the Library of History of Islamic Science, containing 45 thousand volumes of original works, founded by Sezgin in Germany, Varank said it is among the first and unique organizations in the world.

"Here I would like to also highlight an important point: Fuat Sezgin, who works as provided for the institute in Frankfurt had also created a custom library by his own means. He wanted to bring this special library to Turkiye, but Germany did not allow to bring an important part of these works to our country."

"The works of Fuat Sezgin are quite inspiring"

Expressing that the works of Sezgin are inspiring in terms of reflecting the vision and the productivity of Islamic civilization, Varank said they will continue to work with this inspiration they have received from him, and especially to pass this inspiration to youth.

"Fuat Sezgin has become a symbol"

He has become a symbol for Islamic societies, Islamic civilization, and Islamic ideas," said Dr. Ali Mohyiddeen Al-Qaradaghi Secretary General of International Union of Muslim Scholars, who also participated in the symposium.

Dr. Qaradaghi stated that Fuaz Sezgin, who is from Bitlis, east of Turkiye, has sacrificed his lives by combining the Turkish, Kurdish and Arab culture for more than 90 years to keep the Islamic culture alive.
