It was stated that 43,000 people became unemployed because of the damage of the companies due to the demonstrations of the "yellow vests", which took streets to protest the fuel hikes and the deterioration of the economic conditions in France.

State Minister for Economic Affairs Agnès Pannier-Runacher confirmed that the trading sector was particularly hit by blockages with a 25% decrease in sales. Since the beginning of the movement, several federations have intensified to terminate the consequences.

According to the Ministry of Economy, over 43,000 short-term cooperation applications have been submitted by the companies because of the crisis, for which the state would release at least €28 million for them to "collect their wages". Numbers described as "unfortunately accurate" by the president of CPME, François Asselin.

The twenty days of demonstrations had then severely limited growth, in the order of 0.2 points. In comparison, in June, France's National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies [INSEE] estimated that the SNCF and Air France mobilization weeks in the first half would have cost only 0.1 percent of GDP to quarterly April-June growth. INSEE had lowered previously the growth forecast from 1.7 to 1.5 for 2018.

The demonstrations of yellow vests, which began on November 17, but then turned into anger over the administration of President Emmanuel Macron, have become the most violent protest in the country in recent years.

In the demonstrations, 10 people were killed, more than a thousand people were wounded and approximately 4,341 people were detained.
