Turkey’s economy rises by 21.7% in Q2

​Turkey’s gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 21.7% in the second quarter of 2021, the Turkish Statistical Institute said in a statement on Wednesday.

GDP with chain linked volume index (2009=100) increased by 21.7% compared with the same quarter of the previous year in the second quarter of 2021.

Services increased by 45.8% in the second quarter of 2021

When the activities which constitute gross domestic product were analyzed; the value-added increased by 45.8% in services, 40.5% in industry, 32.4% in professional, administrative, and support service activities, 32.3% in other service activities, 25.3% in information and communication, 8.5% in public administration, education, human health and social work activities, 3.7% in real estate activities, 3.1% in the construction sector and 2.3% in agriculture, forestry, and fishing. Financial and insurance activities decreased by 22.7%.

Seasonally and calendar-adjusted GDP with chain linked volume index (2009=100) increased by 0.9% compared with the previous quarter. Calendar adjusted GDP with chain linked volume index (2009=100) increased by 21.9% compared with the same quarter of the previous year in the second quarter of 2021.

GDP reached 1 trillion 581 billion 120 million TRY at current prices in the second quarter of 2021

GDP increased by 52.4% and reached 1 trillion 581 billion 120 million TRY at current prices. GDP realized 188 billion 566 million US Dollars in the second quarter of 2021.

Final consumption expenditure of resident households increased by 22.9% in the second quarter of 2021

Final consumption expenditure of resident households increased by 22.9%, government final consumption increased by 4.2% and gross fixed capital formation increased by 20.3% in the second quarter of 2021 compared with the same quarter of the previous year in the chained linked volume index.

Exports of goods and services increased by 59.9%, imports increased by 19.2%

Exports of goods and services increased by 59.9% in the second quarter of 2021 compared with the same quarter of the previous year in the chained linked volume index, imports of goods and services increased by 19.2%.

Compensation of employees increased by 36.1% in the second quarter of 2021

Compensation of employees is increased by 36.1% and net operating surplus/mixed-income are increased by 78.2% in the second quarter of 2021 compared with the same quarter of the previous year, respectively.

The share of compensation of employees in Gross Value Added was 32.9%

The share of compensation of employees in the Gross Value Added at current prices was 32.9% in the second quarter of 2021 while it was 37.0% in the previous year. The share of net operating surplus/mixed-income was 49.8% while it was 42.8% in the same quarter of the previous year.
