The foundation helped the family with the basic needs of food and clothing.

It was learned that Basil al-Jassem fled to Turkiye 4 years ago along with his mother and settled in Diyarbakır.

As a bread winner, Basil al-Jassem started collecting paper and nylon from the garbage to make a living.

Jassem, who married Nadia al-Ahmad, has a 2-year-old boy and a 10-month-old daughter.

In order to make a better living, Jassem bought a motorbike in 9 installments for 9 thousand Turkish Liras but the motorbike was burned for an unknown reason 5 months ago and became unusable.

Having difficulty paying the remaining 4 installments of the motorbike Jassem, together with his wife Nadia al-Ahmad began collecting paper on the streets of Diyarbakır.

Jassem family, having difficulty in meeting the rent of the house, food needs and milk needs of their children, stated that they need the motorbike in order to make the family's livelihood better and that they need the main needs such as refrigerator and washing machine.

"In fact, we have nothing, but if I work with the motorbike, God willing, we can meet in need of food"

Jassem is hopeful to have a new motorbike that will help him to meet basic food needs.

"I've been collecting plastics for four years. I bought my motorbike for 9 thousand TL, I was paying a thousand TL each month in 9 installments. But my motorbike was burned 5 months ago. So I'm collecting papers and nylons with a cart since that day."

"Our needs are many, but the priority is that we need to pay our installments, we have 4 installments left," Jassem said while called on philanthropists to help him to buy a new motorbike.

"We have no laundry, refrigerator, and wardrobe. We leave our clothes on iron tracks. In fact, we have nothing. But if I work with the motorbike, God willing, I can meet in need of food."

Mehmet Emin Olgun, one of the officials of Hope Caravan, called on philanthropists who wanted to contribute to the family after they have distributed basic food needs to the family.

We followed this family in social media. They were collecting nylons and papers from trash [for recycling]. They are out collecting nylon and papers because of the need, not because of the habit," Olgun said.

Stating that they did not find any food at home during their visit to the family, Olgun called on philanthropists to help this family through Hope Caravan while shared their phone numbers for donations.
