Brazil’s death toll from coronavirus rises to 66,868

The number of confirmed cases has reached 1,674,655 in Brazil, an increase of 48,584 cases in the last 24 hours.

Brazil has reported 1,312 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the country’s death toll from the virus to 66,868.

Brazil is the country with the second-highest number of coronavirus-related deaths in the world.

The country also ranks second in the world in terms of total cases, behind the United States.

While at least 8,318 patients are being treated in intensive care units, more than 1,072,229 patients suffering from coronavirus have fully recovered and been discharged from hospital.

Sao Paulo, the country’s most-populated state, continues to be the epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic in Brazil. The state has so far reported more than 333,000 confirmed coronavirus cases, with at least 16,475 deaths.
