Iran reports 160 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours

Iran has reported 160 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 11,731, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Monday.

After 2,613 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 243,051 in the country.

There are at least 3,201 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, 204,083 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.

So far, more than 1,820,000 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.

She described the condition in the provinces of Kordestan, Bushehr, Ilam, Khuzestan, East Azarbaijan, West Azarbaijan, Kermanshah, Khorasan Razavi and Hormozgan as a red status, adding that the condition in provinces of that Golestan, Yazd, Kerman, Alborz, Hamedan and Sistan and Baluchestan are alarming.

According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 537,388 with 11,588,358 cases and more than 6,555,529 recoveries.
