Iran's death toll from coronavirus rises to 18,427

Iran has reported 163 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 18,427, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Sunday.

After 2,020 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 326,712 in the country.

There are at least 4,022 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, 284,371 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.

So far, more than 2,686,498 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.

According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 730,867 with 19,880,966 cases and more than 12,773,459 recoveries.
