12 irregular migrants rescued off Turkey's Aegean coast

12 irregular migrants were rescued from a boat off the coast of Turkey’s southwestern Muğla province, Turkish Coast Guard Command announced in a statement on Saturday.

The boat carrying 12 irregular migrants was pushed back to Turkish territorial waters by Greek Coast Guard forces, according to the statement.

Turkey has traditionally been a major transit port for irregular immigrants to enter the European countries.

According to the official reports, 113,865 irregular migrants held across the country in 2020.
