12 tons of marijuana seized off Algeria

Turkish Ministry of Interior announced Thursday that 12 tons of cannabis were seized in international waters, while 8 people were arrested.

The statement of Interior Ministry said that a ship loaded with 12 tons of marijuana has been seized off Algerian coasts in an operation carried out by Italy and Spain security units after the report of Turkish Intelligence Units.

Stating that General Directorate of security Narcotics office has informed Italy and Spain law enforcement units that a ship, traveling off Algeria shores, needs to be searched, while 12 of marijuana seized in the ship after the search of relevant units.

Eight ship crewmembers of Ukrainian nationality were arrested said at the continuation of the statement.
