15 percent hike in electricity in Turkey

Electricity prices will rise by 14.90 percent in residential, industrial and commercial establishments in Turkey.

It was assessed that electricity prices should rise, following Monday's meeting of the Energy Market Regulatory Authority.

At the meeting, it was decided that the price of electricity would increase by 14.90 percent in residential, industrial and commercial houses as of October 1.

The new tariff is expected to be in effect for the 3-month period until December 31, 2019, unless there is an extraordinary development.

Electricity was last increased by 15 percent in Turkey on July 1.
