2 dead after ship sinks off Samsun

At least 2 lifeless bodies were found and 7 others were rescued after Panama-flagged ship sank in the Black Sea off Samsun's coast, a northern province of Turkiye.

Turkish Coast Guard teams reportedly rescued seven crews while found 2 dead after Panama-flagged ship, sank off the coast of Samsun, in the Black Sea. There were reportedly 13 crews on the ship.

"Alert signal was received from Panama-flagged cargo vessel with 13 crew inside today at 07.59, which departed from Russian Federation Azov port to Samsun port, that it had estimated to be sinking at 80 sea miles away from the coast," said the statement announced by Coast Guard Command.

"After receiving the distress signal, a coast guard plane, 2 coast guard helicopters, and 2 coast guard boats have been assigned to the rescue site for immediate search. Also, an air force rescue helicopter was requested to support the activities," the statement read.
