295,480 Syrians return to their country: Turkish Interior Ministry

The Turkish Ministry of Interior announced Saturday that 295,480 Syrian refugees in Turkiye returned to their country in 2018.

Providing information about Syrian refugees in Turkiye, Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that 294,480 Syrians returned to their country, while 90 irregular migrants died trying to emigrate through the sea.

Turkish Ministry of Internal Affairs provided information about the activities of 2018 through its official Twitter account.

In a post, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced that 853,274 Syrian were given residence permit only in 2018 while 268,003 irregular migrants were caught. The ministry also announced that 55,894 irregular migrants were said to be deported.

At least 6,278 migrant smugglers were taken into custody, while 90 irregular migrants died when trying to migrate illegally from the sea the ministry said.
