4 people killed, more than 120 injured in the earthquake: Turkish Interior Minister

At least 4 people were killed and more than 120 others injured after powerful 6.6-magnitude earthquake struck the Aegean region of Turkey, said the counrty’s Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu.

“Unfortunately, our four citizens have lost their lost in the earthquake in İzmir. A total of 120 citizens were injured,” Soylu tweeted.

He also noted that 38 ambulances, 35 search and rescue teams as well as 2 air ambulances were sent to the region by affected by the earthquake.

The earthquake took place 2:51 p.m. off the coast of the Seferihisar district in the Aegean Sea.

According to Mayor of Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Tunç Soyer, at least 20 buildings have collapsed in the earthquake.
