5.2-magnitude quake hits southern Iran

A 5.2 magnitude earthquake hit Sargaz region in south Iran on Wednesday, according to Iranian Seismological Center.

Rescue teams were sent to the region in order to help people in need and to assess the possible damage, the officials reported.

The epicenter of the earthquake, which took place at 10:53pm local time (1923 GMT) in the southern province of Hormozgan, was determined at 28.093 degrees north latitude and 56.866 degrees east longitude, with the focus at the depth of 21 km.
