5.8 magnitude earthquake in Istanbul

A 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck off Istanbul's Silivri coast on Thursday.

The earthquake department of the Directorate of Disaster and Emergency Management announced that the 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck off Silivri at 13.59 pm.

The earthquake, which is said to be 7 kilometers deep, was felt in many parts of Istanbul, while citizens experienced great panic. After the earthquake felt in Silivri and surrounding provinces, citizens went out to the streets.

According to data from the Kandilli Observatory Earthquake Research Center, the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.7.

The European Seismological Center noted that the earthquake had a magnitude of 5.9.

The loss of life and property did not occur in the earthquake, but students in schools were removed from classrooms immediately after the earthquake, and taken to the garden as a precaution.
