A 5.0 magnitude earthquake hits northwestern Turkey

The 5.0 quake struck Turkey’s northwestern Düzce province on Wednesday, Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency announced on its website.

The earthquake occurred at around 15:40 TSI, with its epicenter at a latitude of 40.8448 degrees north and a longitude of 31.0316 degrees east, and at a depth of 18.02 km.

The earthquake was felt in the nearby provinces, including Kocaeli, Istanbul, Bursa, Kastamonu, Karabük, and Bartın, the local sources said.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
