A 5.1 magnitude earthquake hits western Turkey

The 5.1 magnitude quake hit the Karaburun district of Turkey’s western Izmir province on Monday, Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency announced on its website.

The earthquake occurred at around 08:46 TSI, with its epicenter at a latitude of 38.9850 degrees north and a longitude of 26.1185 degrees east, and at a depth of 20.69 km.

The earthquake was felt in the nearby provinces, including Aydın, Uşak, Manisa, Muğla, and Balıkesir, according to local sources said.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.
