A 6.1 magnitude earthquake hits China

An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 struck the Tibet region of China on Friday, the country's Earthquake Administration said.

The earthquake occurred at around 09:11 am local time, at a depth of 10 km (6.2 miles), with its epicenter in the eastern county of Biru.

There are no initial reports of casualties or damage to buildings, Chinese state media said.
