A 6.1 magnitude earthquake hits Philippines

A 6.1-magnitude quake struck the Philippines at 12:22 on Sunday, the country’s Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.

The epicenter was about 17 km (10.5 miles) west of Digos City, Davao del Sur Province. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 24 km (15 miles) and produced strong shaking near the epicenter.

There have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties due to the earthquake.

No tsunami warning has been issued after the earthquake.
