A 6.1 magnitude earthquake hits Philippines

An earthquake of magnitude 6.1 has struck the Mindanao region in the southern Philippines, the European Mediterranean Seismological Centre announced on Monday.

The earthquake occurred at 6:37 a.m. local time, with the epicenter located at a depth of 15 kilometers near the town of San Agustin in Surigao del Sur province.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the earthquake.
