A day of mourning for Egypt in Turkiye

Turkiye has declared a national mourning on Monday due to the attack on the al-Rawda Mosque during the Friday prayer in an al-Abed town on the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt.

Due to a terrorist attack on the mosque in Egypt, one day of national mourning was announced in Turkiye on Monday. On Monday, it was announced that fly the flag at half-staff in Turkiye and in foreign missions.

"A day of national mourning has been declared due to the loss of lives as a result of the brutal terrorist attack on the al-Rawda Mosque in Egypt on November 24, 2017. On this occasion, Monday, November 27, 2017, the flags will be flown at half-staff in our country and in our foreign offices," read the statement made by the Prime Minister's Office.

The number of those who lost their lives in the attack on Friday prayer time has increased. The prosecutor's office investigating the attack said that the number of those killed in the attack rose to 305 from 235, that 27 of the deceased were children and the number of injured was 128.
