A family of 5 was massacred in Erbil

All members of a family of five who fled Syria and settled in Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan, were found murdered.

The incident happened in the Kesnezan region of Erbil on Friday evening.

A family of 3 children, ages 3 to 7, and parents said to be from Syrian Kurdistan, were found dead in their home in the village of Pirresh.

All members of the family who were trying to make a living working in construction jobs were allegedly killed by gunfire.

Neighbors of the family in question noted that the family lived a life of their own and had no problems with anyone.

Erbil Security has captured a suspect

The Erbil Police Department has arrested a suspect as a result of efforts to apprehend the perpetrators of the massacre.

A statement from the security department said the family was shot and killed.

According to the findings from the crime scene of the murders on the night of 2 October, a suspect was soon apprehended, the statement read.

The statement added that Ferudun Kerim Ramadan, the suspect, testified that he fired a gun at Father Besam Hussain Rasul, then mother Solin Mohammad Nezir and their children Hussain, 11, Ruşka, 7, and Muhammad, 5, admitted to killing parents and 3 children.

The statement, which did not share the cause of killing, also said the investigation into the incident was ongoing and details of the incident will be shared with the public soon.
