At least 2 people killed, 12 missing in China after landslide triggered by heavy rains

Floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains have killed at least two people and left another 12 missing in China’s southwestern Sichuan province.

“A mudslide caused by torrential rain in Ya'an, SW China's Sichuan, has killed 2 people and left another 12 missing on Sunday. Over 700 rescue staff and 70 vehicles are searching for the missing,” said Global Times, a daily tabloid newspaper under the auspices of the Chinese Communist Party's flagship People's Daily newspaper.

The province issued a yellow alert for geological disasters, it added.
