The Regional Director of Civil Protection, Mourad Mechri, confirmed that the boat had sunk during a trip that started late on Thursday from the town of Sfax.
“Until now, the coastguard has recovered 21 bodies and the search is still continuing for the missing migrants,” Mechri said.
