At least 34 people killed in two bombings in Afghanistan

At least 34 people have been killed and more than 20 others wounded in two separate suicide bombings targeting a military base and a provincial chief in Afghanistan's central Ghazni province.

The casualties came when an attacker drove a military vehicle full of explosives onto an army commando base before detonating it, Ghazni governor spokesman Wahidullah Jumazada said.

The reinforcements dispatched to the area faced an ambush on their way to the brigade, he added.

There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the attacks.
