At least 8 killed, more than 100 injured in Egypt train accident

At least 8 were killed and more than 100 others injured when a passenger train derailed just north of the Egyptian capital, Cairo, officials said on Sunday.

According to local sources, at least eight people have died in the accident, but there has been no official confirmation of the death toll.

The train had been set to travel to the northeast city of Mansoura when its eight carriages overturned, media outlets reported.

The Health Ministry said that 58 ambulances were involved in the emergency response to transfer the injured to nearby hospitals.
