At least civilians 10 killed, many others injured in Nigerian airstrike

The Nigerian Air Force has mistakenly bombed civilians in Yunusari local government in Yobe state on Wednesday.

According to local sources, dozens of people were killed and many others injured after the warplanes attacked a village in Nigeria’s war-torn North-East.

The injured were transferred to the hospitals in Geidam and the capital Damaturu, an official said.

The Nigerian Air Force swiftly denied the attack in a statement, claiming the bombing did not occur. But the state governor contradicted the military in a condolence message.

“Government will work closely with the security forces especially the Nigeria Airforce to establish what actually happened. This is very important and necessary for us to guard against future occurrence and to safeguard the lives of our people. The government will work with all security forces to ensure the safety of the state,” Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni said.
