Barzani: I refuse an extension to my Presidency term

In a letter to the Parliament of Kurdistan, "I refuse an extension to my Presidency term," said Masoud Barzani, the head of Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government.

In a letter to the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Parliament, Masoud Barzani demanded that his authorities be handed over to the Parliamentary Presidency, the Supreme Council for Justice and Government.

The Parliament of Kurdistan was convened today with the agenda of Barzani's authorities transferring to other authorities.

Masoud Barzani sent a letter to the Kurdistan Parliament gave the following statements: " I refuse to continue in my post as the Kurdistan Region President and neither the Presidency law should be amended, nor the President’s term extended,” President Barzani wrote in his letter. “As a Peshmerga, among the people, and the dear Peshmergas, I will continue the struggle for achieving the rights of our nation and preserving its achievements,” the President continued.
