Blast kills 22 near Kabul's Green Zone

An explosion near the Green Zone, where the U.S. Embassy is located in Kabul, the Afghan capital, killed 22 people and wounded 38 others.

The blast reportedly carried out following the explosion at a rally of President Ashraf Ghani.

The explosion occurred near the Green Zone, where the Defense Department, the U.S. embassy and NATO headquarters are located.

Officials said 22 people were killed and another 38 injured while Rahimi, an Interior Ministry spokesman, confirmed the death toll.

The Taliban claimed the blast in the Afghan capital, saying it was a suicide bomb attack.
