Curfew to be implemented on asylum-seekers in Austria

Austrian Interior Minister Herbert Kickl said he plans to declare a curfew to refugees on the grounds of their safety.

Austrian Interior Minister Herbert Kickl, who spoke at a press conference on planned arrangements for asylum-seekers in the country, stated that they plan to declare a curfew on the grounds of their security.

Interior Minister  Kickl announced that a nighttime curfew would be imposed for those who had applied for but had not yet been granted asylum and that these people would have to stay in their designated centers between 10.00 pm and 6.00 am.

"For those who don't want that, we'll find a place for them where there is little incentive to hang around," Kickl added.

He said they plan to prevent asylum applications in Austria and added that they want to implement the "security detention" application for asylum seekers who pose a potential danger.

He also argued that the arrangement is in line with European Union (EU) laws.

A two-thirds majority of the parliament must support the implementation of the "security detention".
