The torrential rains started in Bingöl yesterday morning and the floods started to spate in the evening hours.
After the collapse of Çapakçur Bridge that is used for intercity transportation due to heavy rainfall the traffic on both sides of the bridge were closed, which connects the two sides of Bingöl.
While dozens of animals were perished in animal shelters near Çapakçur river in Down Bazaar Neighborhood, some vehicles in the park were damaged. The vehicles were removed by the AFAD [Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency] and fire crews at the scene.
“The small herds taken by floods”
Gıyasettin Çintay, whose animals were perished due to flood said, “There was a flood last night. My villager and my animals were wasted due to the flood. My 39 small livestock and my friend 6 cattle were wasted. The small herds were taken by the flood. Also the basement under our house was flooded. A flood like this had happened in 1991. A had a fruit garden the floods took all the trees away from the place.”
Zeki Çamuka another citizens who suffered from flood said, “I went to the mosque for the night prayer. One of my friend went out and said ‘flood is here’. I came out and there were voices of animals. I took children out of the window. My 6 the cattle were wasted. All the hayloft and the corrals were destroyed. We have big damage.” (ILKHA)
