Electricity and natural gas prices up 20 percent compared to previous period

Electricity prices increased 20 percent in housing, 59 percent in industry; natural gas prices increased 19 percent in housing, 60 percent in industry in January-June 2019 electricity and natural gas prices compared to same period of the previous year.

Turkstat announced data for the electricity and natural gas prices for the January-June 2019 period.

In the first period(1) of 2019, for the smallest consumption band(2) which is below 1 000 kWh, household consumers paid on average 53.8 kurus per kWh electricity while 53.3 kurus were paid on average for the largest consumption band which is 15 000 kWh and above.

Industrial consumers paid on average 48.1 kurus per kWh electricity

For the industrial consumers, in the first period of 2019, in the smallest consumption band which is below 20 MWh(3), industrial consumers paid on average 59 kurus per kWh whereas they paid on average 43.1 kurus per kWh electricity for the largest consumption band which is above 150 000 MWh.

Household consumers paid on average 135.6 kurus per m3 natural gas

Household consumers paid 136.8 kurus for the smallest consumption band which is below 522 m3 and 135.4 kurus for the largest consumption band which is 5 219 m3 and above per m3 natural gas in the first period of 2019. In the consumption band between 522 and 5 219 m3, household consumers paid 134.7 kurus in the same period.

Industrial consumers paid on average 167 kurus per m3 natural gas

In the first period of 2019, for the smallest consumption band which is below 26 094 m3, industry consumers paid on average 136.1 kurus per m3 natural gas while 168.6 kurus were paid on average for the largest consumption band which is above 104 376 000 m3.
