Erdoğan to chair the 14th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan will chair the 14th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), which will be held virtually on 4 March 2021, a presidency statement said.

The Heads of State and Government of member states, the President of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) in the country’s capacity as an observer state, and the Secretaries-General of the Turkic Council and the Energy Charter will attend the Summit, according to the statement.

During the Summit, which will be held with the theme of Regional Economic Cooperation in the Post-Pandemic Era, views will be exchanged on boosting the effectiveness of the ECO, one of the most rooted institutions for economic cooperation in our geography – a region which is located at one of the junction points of the supply chain and serves as a bridge between global production centers.

The coordination of steps that can be taken by the ECO in the fight against the pandemic and in the post-pandemic era as well as the strengthening of mechanisms for future economic cooperation are also expected to be discussed during the Summit.
