Erdoğan’s opinion in favour of shutting down open education psychology programs

Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s opinion in favour of shutting down open education psychology undergraduate programs, the country's Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun said in a statement on Thursday.

Director of Communications Fahrettin Altun stated that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan conveyed his opinion to the Council of Higher Education that "it would be more beneficial to shut down the open education psychology undergraduate programs" with regard to the related report of the Presidency’s Education and Teaching Policies Council.

 In a post shared on his Twitter account, Altun stated that the Presidency’s Education and Teaching Policies Council prepared a report noting that "psychology undergraduate education requires a great deal of practice and that it would be more appropriate to conduct formal education in order to protect the quality in higher education" and presented it to President Erdoğan.

 Altun stated that "With regard to the relevant report of the Presidency’s Education and Teaching Policies Council, President Erdoğan informed the Council of Higher Education that ‘it would be more beneficial to shut down the open education psychology undergraduate programs’."
