The German Siemens-Türkerler-Kalyon consortium was the winner of the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources' Wind Energy Renewable Energy Resource Areas (YEKA). The consortium won the tender of $ 3.48 (KWS), which was the reverse auction in kilowatt hours.
The tender for the formation of a wind power capacity of a thousand megawatt is Turkiye's first YEKA tender. Today, the number of companies competing in the industry has fallen from 8 to 2, with Chinese Mingyang and German Siemens consortiums facing each other. The Chinese Mingyang consortium withdraw from the tender when it began its 30th round.
A minimum of 3 billion kWh of electricity will be generated each year and approximately 1.1 million households will be covered from the annual electricity demand wind
Consortium will conduct R&D work for a total of five years in a total of at least three of the areas, wind, generator design, material technology and production techniques, software and innovative gearbox, which won the bid for the establishment of a wind energy capacity of one thousand megawatt in five different regions of Turkiye. R&D activities will be carried out with 50 technical personnel consisting of 80% domestic engineers, while the budget of $ 5 million is allocated every year. The winner of the Wind YEKA bid will invest over a billion dollars in wind farms. With the project going into operation, the plants will generate at least 3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity each year and approximately 1.1 million homes will be covered by the annual electricity demand. At the same time, an annual average of 1.5 million tons of carbon emission reduction will be achieved thanks to the wind facilities to be installed.
